A note about many "Travel Insurance" services

Most travel insurance that you may see advertised only covers accidents, not illnesses. While you would be covered from the injuries sustained in an automobile accident, these other policies may not provide coverage in the event that you became ill while outside the United States.

You may also have certain coverage provided by your credit card. While these may be valuable, generally these provide a death benefit only, and this benefit is usually only applicable while you are traveling with tickets purchased by the card. This would leave you without protection you may think you have once you step off the plane and get into a cab or public transportation.
