I Don't Want to Be a Preacher

Good news! You don't have to be a preacher to be a missionary.

In fact, many more positions are open for people who do not want to be preachers on the mission field. Of course, you will need to be able to share your testimony and accurately explain the truth from the Bible, but that doesn't mean that you will be a preacher. In some situations, you may be asked to preach in a church service, but, again, that does not mean that your main job description will require you to preach regularly.

If you like your college major and want to use the skills and expertise that you've gained in college as part of your mission work, explore that possibility. There are many needs for teachers, computer experts, engineers, veterinarians, musicians, web designers, youth ministers, athletes, and anthropologists, and accountants on the field as missionaries - plus many, many more options. Look online at the current positions available for career missionaries (and also for 2-year missionaries called Journeymen) at http://going.imb.org - click on "career" or, for the two-year assignments, click on "Journeyman."
