Flock a Yard / Flamingo Insurance
Buy two or three dozen pink lawn flamingos or borrow some from a neighboring church that has already used this idea. Warn your church members that the flamingos are coming (use posters, birds stationed in hallways with signs, newsletter announcements, etc.). Advertise "flamingo insurance" which will prevent the birds from landing in their yards. Set the insurance price less than the price of having the birds removed after they've landed. Then select a good?natured church member. Have your youth "flock" the selected member's yard at night (be quiet!). Leave a note that says the flock will fly away for a certain amount (say $10, or whatever seems appropriate for your church). For an additional amount (say $5), the flocked member can select the next "victim." Don't forget your pastor, WMU director or other church leaders!
Variation: Pigs Will Fly - Build wooden pigs, paint them pink, then chain them to members' mailbox poles. Aware of the campaign, members are armed with a phone number to call for pig removal. One catch: They must donate $5 to help the youth toward their international missions project. If a donor gives $6, they can name another member to whose mailbox pole the pig will be chained.
