People Group Focus: Amarakaeri of Peru
The Amarakaeri people of Peru live a simplistic life void of modern distractions such as televisions, restaurants or automobiles. Nearly 1,000 Amarakaeri live hidden in the Peruvian Amazon Jungle. Their seclusion has allowed them to maintain their unique culture, identity and language. Until recently, the Amarakaeri’s isolation also has kept them from hearing the gospel. Read more …

Persecuted Church: Nigeria
Three students expelled for sharing the gospel last November say their rights as Christians were violated by authorities of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in northern Nigeria.
The university’s disciplinary committee, comprised of ten Muslims and one Christian, accused the students of blasphemy against the prophet of Islam, Mohammed, and created a situation in which the students were expelled and a death sentence passed on them by the Muslims in the university. Swiss Pastor Pablo Besson was the pioneering Baptist missionary in Argentina. Besson’s work in Argentina focused on religious liberty and the separation of church and state because he had live through negative repercussions of the Swiss state establishing the union of church and state in Switzerland.
