God’s Wonders in China
From Heart for China Newsletter, Volume 63
The volunteers were only in the city for a short time
and they were limited in their ability to communicate in
the language of the people. But as they befriended the people
around them -- hosting parties and taking photos and smiling
until their muscles ached -- Christ's love was clearly conveyed.
At a gathering where the gospel was shared through simple
testimonies, a young Chinese lady removed the Buddhist beads
from around her neck and replaced them with a cross. "This
is the first time that I have heard of God's love,"
she said.

Her young Chinese friend asked an innocent question. "Of
all the cities in China, why did you choose to come here
to study Chinese?" The Christian worker thought it
deserved a straightforward answer. "I came here because
Jesus told me to come here," she said. "Jesus?"
asked the young friend? "Jesus?" she repeated
again. Then with resolve she said, "I love this Jesus."
The Christian prayed that her friend would truly love Jesus
as she came to know Him as her own Lord and Savior. And
she thanked Him for bringing her to China to share His love.

The taxi driver seemed rather stern and unfriendly. He
would hardly speak to his foreign passengers, in fact, until
he realized that one of them could speak Chinese. He was
so amazed that he just had to comment. Sally* replied by
praising God. The taxi driver quickly told her that he was
Muslim. Sally told him that she knew some Muslims in their
city who had accepted Jesus. The taxi driver found that
to be even more amazing than a Chinese-speaking American.
He looked at her and said, "You tell me about Him.
You tell me about this Jesus." Twenty minutes later,
after hearing a clear presentation of the gospel, he too
accepted Christ. Now it was Sally and her friends -- all
of whom had been conditioned to think that it is almost
impossible to lead a Muslim to Christ -- who were amazed.
They gave him a Bible that day, and rejoiced to hear later
that he had shared his faith with his wife and other friends.

While his wife was sightseeing nearby with others in his
tour group, the elderly American man sat on the steps of
a Buddhist Temple reading his Bible. A Chinese lady approached
him and asked in perfect English what he was reading. "I'm
reading my Bible about my God," he replied. She asked
if he was a Christian, and he told her yes. "I always
wanted to learn about Christianity," she replied. "You
have come to the right place," he thought as he began
to tell her about Christ and introduce her to the Kingdom
in which she now has membership.
