A
Witch Finds Christ in Sudan
Arab villagers in Sudan lived in fear of a witch and did
whatever they could to appease her so she would not curse
them. Whenever she would perform her magic, a crowd would
gather to watch. One day, two believers saw the crowd gathered
as they entered the village. When they joined the crowd
to see what was going on, the witch's powers suddenly left
her. She turned to the crowd and said, “There are
people among us who do not belong here.” She pointed
to the two believers and demanded that they leave. “Why
should we leave?” they asked. “The spirits are
angry with you,” she replied. “We come by the
Spirit of God in the name of Jesus. We have come to free
you from these spirits in the name of Jesus,” they
said. The witch became scared and demanded that they leave.
So
the pair stepped outside the place and prayed. When she
resumed her ceremony, her magic still would not work, so
she went out to the two men. She told them she could see
that Jesus had greater power than the spirits she served,
and she accepted Christ. When the people who were afraid
of her saw what she had done, they accepted Christ as well.
About 150 people opened their hearts to Jesus during the
following days. Shout to the Lord whose power is greater
than any petty demon. Pray that God's spirit would dwell
in power in all His children. Pray that the testimony of
this victory would bring glory to God throughout that district
of Sudan.
