The Genie Disappeared
From Compassion Daily Prayer

A Punjabi man began to be troubled by a jihn (pronounced gin) or evil spirit. The jihn would not let this man sleep at night. He paid different religious people to get rid of the spirit, but it would not leave him alone. His family was very upset, especially when the jihn threatened to kill him if he did not do whatever the jihn told him. Finally the man’s daughter suggested that her father go to the church for help. He went to the pastor’s home, and the pastor invited him inside. As he entered the home, the man became very surprised. “This is the first time the jihn has left me,” he said. The jihn could not enter the home of the pastor because of the presence of Jesus Christ in him and his family. The pastor explained to the man that Jesus has power over the spirits, and that if he gave his life to Jesus, he could know true peace. He shared the Gospel, and the man prayed to receive Christ. When he left the pastor’s home, he said, “The jihn is not here anymore!” He went home that night and slept soundly. He has been reading the Bible ever since. Please pray that the rest of his family will also come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pray that many more Punjabis will also come to know the one true God.
