A
Divine Appointment
A Christian worker told an American believer to wait for
him in front of a refugee center where they were going to
minister because “there is no way you can get into
the center without a contact or one of us accompanying you.”
When his friend didn’t arrive, the worker walked into
the center anyway, hoping to find him. Not finding his friend
anywhere, the worker decided he had made a mistake and started
to leave. On the way out, however, he heard two men speaking
in Turkish. The men invited him back to their room, where
he met their roommates—all Iraqi Kurds. As they ate
together, the American reflected on the fact that their
two countries were avowed enemies, yet these men were showing
him only hospitality. When the time came to leave, his new
friend gave the American a traditional kiss on both cheeks
and called him arkadasim—“my friend.”
