Evil Spirits Flee
From a Christian Worker’s Newsletter
Fatima
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand
against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against
flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly realms. - Ephesians 6:11-12
Ali, a brand new believer in the Shebaa family church, was
immediately confronted with Muslim lifestyle issues that
conflicted with the teachings of Jesus; namely, he had a
second wife. Though he and the church wrestled with how
to see this situation resolved in a God-honoring manner,
Ali also knew how important it was to begin sharing with
his second wife, Fatima. The change in his life was obvious
and Fatima could not ignore it.
Fatima began to seek the truth about Jesus. One practical
way she knew to do that was to ask advise from Lamia (the
believer who had first invited a Muslim to the house church)
concerning a spiritual issue in her own family. Fatima’s
mother was tormented by evil spirits in her home. She could
hear them at night and was extremely unnerved by their presence.
After seeking a remedy from the sheikh at the local mosque,
she started sleeping with a Koran under her pillow. This,
of course, did no good at all. Fatima asked Lamia what they
should do and Lamia advised them to replace the Koran with
an Injeel (New Testament) and then pray in Jesus’
name that the spirits leave the house. Desperate for an
answer, Fatima’s mother not only replaced the Koran,
but she threw the Koran away! That very night, the noises
stopped and the evil spirits were gone.
Points for Prayer:
- God is obviously drawing Fatima and her mother to
Himself. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of Jesus
to these women so powerfully that they could not deny
His saving power.
- Ask God to show Ali and Fatima how to submit to God’s
expectations for marriage. Pray for abundant wisdom and
for a testimony among their family and neighbors that
will draw more people to Christ.
