The
Priceless Word
From Preachables
Volume 52 - October 11, 2004
The
university students seated in her living room were enjoying
English conversation when one young man raised
his hand ever so slowly to signal that he had a question
for the teacher. “May I see your Bible?” he
asked. Before she could answer, he continued, “I
have never seen a Bible before.” She hurried to another
room to collect a Bible for him to peruse. He held it gingerly
as he began to turn the pages. Others continued in conversation,
but he was lost in the Word. At the end of the evening,
he tried to hand the Bible back to the hostess, but she
refused to accept it. “No, it is yours,” she
said. “Ohhh,” he said, holding it to his heart,
with tears coursing down his cheeks. The teacher knew that
something much more important than English acquisition
had taken place that evening.
