Baptized at Last
From Compassion Net daily prayer
International Mission Board workers ministering among the
Futa Toro peoples of West Africa report a recent praise:
a woman with whom they had been meeting for nearly 10 years
finally agreed to be baptized. More than nine years ago,
N. approached the missionaries under cover of darkness to
learn more about the "Jesus Way" of which the
Christians had spoken. She feared retaliation from her family
or neighbors if they were to find her studying the Bible.
Even after N. became a Christian, she refused to follow
through with baptism. "She was afraid of going into
the water, she was afraid that she might get sick and she
was afraid that people would find out," says an IMB
team member there. "At last, her desire to obey God's
word overcame all of her fear, and the woman who had never
been in water above her knees walked into the surf of the
Atlantic and was baptized before fellow believers."
Team members ask for continued prayer as they disciple N.
and other believers among the Futa Toro in West Africa.
Pray this
week for the Futa Tora and other people groups in West
Africa.
