The Persecuted Church

Maldives

Only a few Christians live among the 300,000 people of the Maldives, an island nation off the southwest coast of India. Though the country has a wonderful climate and some of the world's most beautiful beaches, life for these few Christians is very difficult. The law requires every Maldivan to be Muslim. Christians are regularly harassed by the government and, at times, thrown into prison and publicly flogged. Their lives are lonely because many Muslims fear spending time with them. They have no place to gather for corporate worship, singing, or praying.

Christian workers ask believers to pray for Maldivan Christians, that God would touch each of them with His joy, love, and encouragement in a deep, personal way. Ask God to pour out his comfort on Maldivan believers. Pray that they will be full of the Spirit and
bold in their witness. Ask God to glorify his name in the Maldives.
