This guidebook is specifically for leaders of teams who plan to participate in collegiate international missions. If you have questions about collegiate international missions which are not addressed below, please see the FAQ section of our Web site.

If your questions are not addressed at all on this site, please contact the Student Mobilization Team (isd.student@imb.org). Your suggestions and additional questions are valuable to us as we seek to develop the most comprehensive and helpful guidebook available about IMB collegiate missions.

Question 1: How does a person become a team leader?

Answer:

Collegiate ministers are automatically invited to be team leaders of student teams.

Adult leadership in collegiate ministries are also invited to be team leaders with references from a collegiate minister and/or pastor with whom they work.

Students are encouraged to apply for team leader positions if they meet the following criteria:

  • Junior or senior status when they apply for the position
  • Previous international experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Recommendation of collegiate minister and/or pastor or qualified lay leader.

An interview with a Student Mobilization Team staff member will be conducted for all students who apply for team leader positions.
