Assignment: Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Each day
was totally different, consisting of combinations of prayerwalking,
sports ministry, park ministry, literature distribution and
house church (Bible study groups).
Most memorable: We met a girl early whose
parents invited us to go to a celebration her family holds
every 10 years. They take the gods from their house to the
temple to be “rejuvenated.” Her dad was what we
believed to be demon possessed. This was an opportunity to
pray for her and her family, but it was a very difficult time
as well because the presence of evil was overwhelming.
God working: Our prayer was that God would
reveal His mercy and love to the people of Taiwan and that
He would show us how we could be used to serve Him at every
moment. God answered our prayers. Each day He provided an
opportunity to share His love with so many people. He continually
proved His faithfulness to provide in every situation despite
the language barriers, different beliefs and other obstacles.
It’s all about Him! While we saw people come to know
Jesus Christ, it’s important not to take away from the
glory and honor that He deserves. God didn’t need us,
but He chose to use us.
Chris’s prayer: Numerous people have
never had the opportunity to hear the name of Jesus. God has
placed a burden on my heart not only for the people of Taiwan
but for all of those around the world that have yet to hear.
My prayer is that you would consider giving your summer to
use your talents and gifts to serve a mighty God and a world
that is lost and dying. It will change your life forever!
