Student missions training
International Missions Training Institutes
There are two training opportunities that will greatly assist you and your team. The Cross Cultural Training is for every volunteer, whereas the Team Leader Training is designed specifically for those who lead teams.
Cross Cultural Training
Serving in another culture is a special blessing but does present certain challenges to the volunteer. Many state conventions and other entities in cooperation with the IMB now offer specific training for volunteers in how to minister in another culture. This training is invaluable to the preparation of your team. We urge you to take advantage of this great opportunity.
See a schedule of training sessions.
Note: If you will serve as a student missionary through your state baptist campus ministry program check the chart at the bottom of this page for your specific states' training dates.
Team Leader Training
As a Team Leader, you will want to take advantage of special training for team leaders that is being offered around the country. The joint effort mentioned above to bring you Cross Cultural Training for all volunteers also offers a special course for team leaders.
See a schedule of training sessions.
IWC Training: Pre-Project Study
College/Seminary Training: State collegiate missions orientation
Below is a list of State Student Departments that are hosting a student missions orientation. If you are a student missionary serving through BSU/BCM you will probably be required to attend this orientation. You are welcome to attend the state collegiate missions orientation in the state where you attend school.
If you are a student missionary serving directly through IMB instead of the BSU/BCM, you are welcome to attend your states missions orientation if the word Yes appears in the column labeled Open.
You must contact your state student department via the e-mail listed for your state if you plan to attend your states student missions conference.
